Comites Toronto held the ceremony commemorating the sacrifices of Italian Workers throughout the world on Friday August 8, 2025 at the Woodbridge Memorial Arena – Monument for Italian Fallen Workers, Piazza Sergio Tagliavini. This year marks the 69th Anniversary of the Marcinelle mining disaster, the largest tragedy ever for Italian migrant workers in Europe. In that disaster, 262 miners from all over the old continent lost their lives. 136 of them were  Italian workers who had migrated to Belgium. In 2001 the Ministry of Foreign Affairs established the “National Day Commemorating the Sacrifices of Italian Workers Throughout the world to honour Italians who lost their lives while working abroad, contributing to the development and progress of their host countries.

Consulate General of Italy Toronto had a reception on June 3, 2025 at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex to celebrate Italian National Day on the occasion of the 79th Anniversary (June 2) of the birth of the Italian Republic. At the reception official remarks were made and a ceremony for the bestowal of honors of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic and of the Order of the Star of Italy also took place.
